Plattsburgh Things To Do

Do you have your navigational beacon set on Plattsburgh, NY, this boating season? If so, you are in for a treat. Plattsburgh Boat Basin is a centrally located marina with easy access to dozens of Plattsburgh amenities, shops, restaurants, and events.

We look forward to having you stay with us this summer and want to ensure you get to take in all of the sights and sounds of this great community. With that in mind, take a closer look at the Plattsburgh events and local attractions that you can enjoy during your trip.

Mayor’s Cup Regatta & Festival

The annual Mayor’s Cup Regatta & Festival is scheduled for July 6, 2024, on Lake Champlain. The land events and festivals are held on Plattsburgh City Beach. This is one of the most celebrated and popular events in the Plattsburgh, NY, area and always has a great turnout.

Event organizers kick off the morning with a sailing competition on Lake Champlain. The Mayor’s Cup Regatta has three different racing divisions: Cruising, Racing, and Multihull. There are prizes for all three classes.

Every year, the event is extremely competitive. Participants showcase their captain skills and boating prowess as they cruise across Lake Champlain. If you plan on participating, make sure to register early, as spaces fill up fast.

Don’t forget to find a safe place to lay anchor a few days before the event. The Plattsburgh Boat Basin is a premier spot for out-of-town boat captains, as we offer daily, weekly, and monthly rates. We are always lucky enough to host at least a few participants who take advantage of our great prices and broad assortment of on-site amenities.

After the race wraps up, the Plattsburgh, NY, community takes to the city beach for the next phase of activities. Organizers have planned a 5K race, cornhole tournament, live music, kayak rides, and much more. Bring the whole family and immerse yourself in Plattsburgh’s culture.

Plattsburgh Farmers & Crafters Market

For nearly 20 years, the Plattsburgh Farmers & Crafters Market has been a staple of this bustling community. It’s just a short drive from the Plattsburgh Boat Basin and offers views of the Saranac River, Plattsburgh Bay, and Cumberland Bay.

The market happens every Saturday and has dozens of local vendors. You’ll find fruits and vegetables, meats, honey, and maple products, and there is also plenty of wine, live music, and hand-crafted items. Make sure to pick up a few things to commemorate your trip to Plattsburgh, NY.

The Great Lake Champlain Fishing Derby

This year marks the 38th annual Rotary International Fishing Classic, which is held on Lake Champlain. This year’s tournament is tentatively scheduled for June 5, 6, and 7. Sign up and show off your angling skills, or go see the participants off as they head out each morning.

If you want to give back to the bustling Plattsburgh, NY, community, supporting the fishing tournament is a great way of doing just that. Each year, organizers donate about 50% of the tournament net revenue and 25% of the team category revenue to fund local scholarship programs.

The Art Festival

The Lake City Arts Fest hasn’t announced its 2024 dates just yet. However, it’s usually scheduled in August, and we expect similar scheduling this year.

As your trip to Plattsburgh Boat Basin draws near, you’ll want to check the festival’s social media channels for updates. During the festival, you’ll see local artists’ work on display. The event offers scenic views and a relaxing environment.

Awesome Eats

Plattsburgh Boat Basin is just a five-minute walk from downtown. Make your way there after you get settled at our marina and indulge in the local foods. Some of our favorite destinations are Sip, the Twisted Carrot, and Latitude 44 Bistro.

Whatever you are craving, you’ll find it in the downtown area. You can also venture out a few miles from the marina and enjoy a more diverse assortment of options, including prime steak dinners at the Butcher Block and sweet treats at Anthony’s Restaurant and Bistro.
